University Council
Each state-operated campus in the SUNY system has its own University Council, which includes as a voting member a student enrolled at the host institution. Members are appointed by the governor to seven-year terms with the exception of the student representative, who is elected by the student body.
Institutional Agenda
SUNY Oneonta has taken a unique approach to a strategic plan by establishing a 10-year (2023-2033) timeline to accomplish 13 long-term outcomes. These outcomes are aspirations of what the university will do, so that in 2033, SUNY Oneonta will continue to be a relevant institution of higher education with stable enrollment, positive student outcomes, and financial stability.
Shared Governance
The Student Association is the university's student government, comprised of three coequal branches. The University Senate is the representative body through which faculty, staff, and students participate in shared governance and university affairs.
Advisory Councils and Committees
SUNY Oneonta has a number of councils and committees that are advisory to the university.
